Began playing organized football (Youth) at 7, played up in age until entering 7th grade. Played both ways on the line until 7th grade but also played QB, LB, RB, FB, TE. From 7th through 11th grade played both ways either as an OL/DL or LB/OL. Senior year played MLB exclusively.

Honors - member of every football team club from freshman through senior season, recipient of Green & White and Dwire Awards (MVP) over HS career. Set the single game sack record (4.5) as a senior. Selected for 2009 Football University Top Gun, 2010 Top 50 LBs tested for Nike SPARQ (92.88 SPARQ Rating), Nike Football Training Camp - ESPN Fastest LB, 2010 Ohio High Magazine - Top LBs to watch, ScoutingOhio.com - Top 200 Class of 2011.
