Cory Pfanner - Cross Country Runner

Tough season. Mentally, I really held myself back until the final month before conference. Then, I started to get going again and made a promise to myself that my work ethic would increase to where it was when I was an all-conference runner. Finished strong with a season best of 18:33 at the Regional meet in Tiffin. Strong season showing for the team: SBC champs, 3rd at Districts, and on the Regional meet!

I started with a 19:03 at New London, 18:15 at Chris Green, 18:20 at the Tiffin Carnival, 18:03 at Galion, 11:29 at the two mile Erie County Championships, 18:01 at Oregon Clay. Injuries hampered my Worthington race going just 19:42 after being at 11:40 at the 2 mile marker. I finally broke 18 minutes the next week with a 17:58 at the SBC Championships, placing 7th, good enough for First Team All-SBC. I followed up SBC with a current PR of 17:47 at the District meet in Galion, finishing 10th and moving on to the Regional meet as an individual. All in all, not a bad season at all. I was proud of my team for stepping up and making as good a push as we could have to move on to Regionals as a team. We had the guys, but sickness, injuries, and family matters took us down to just 5 guys even able to run Districts. Next year WILL be our year!

I started off slow, as expected getting used running 5K instead of 2 miles. First race was 20:27, followed by a 20:14, and another 20:27 before the improvement began. I slowly improved to 18:56 at the SBC meet and finished off with a 43 second season best at the District meet with an 18:13.
