About Christian Schultz

Christian is a 26-Year-Old Grad. at Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, California. He currently focuses on one sport, Cross Country.

I am Christian Schultz, and have been a competitive distance runner since the 7th grade. I have been a varsity runner in cross country and track for my freshmen, sophomore, and junior years, and have PRs that include: 5k 17:01, 3mi 15:40, 1600m 4:33. I want to major in an engineering field such as biomechanical engineering at a prestigious college, while also having the luxury of competing for that college in the sport that I love.


On paper, my numbers are not at an equal caliber to many other nationally ranked high school athletes, but I still want to see myself competing for a highly competitive division 1 college. Academically I strive for success and love the learning environment. Although I hit a few major bumps in the road my sophomore year due to family and home problems, I have made a comeback and am putting myself in a rigorous classroom environment by taking AP and honors classes. As I mentioned before my numbers on paper are not high caliber, but my school does not have the best foundation for our runners. We do not have an athletic period available to practice, although our football team does, so we are limited to one practice per day after school, making it difficult to get our weekly mileage high. I am determined to not let these factors effect my chances of following a successful path in not only running, but education as well, and have taken advantage of what I have available to me. I have no doubt that with the proper training and coaching, I can achieve the high caliber numbers on the track and in the classroom expected of elite athletes.
