Cowboys release backup QB Johnson (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

The Dallas Cowboys are looking for a new backup to Tony Romo. Brad Johnson was released Thursday after playing just four games over two seasons. The 17-year veteran quarterback was ineffective during a three-game stint as the starter last season when Romo broke his right pinkie. The Cowboys went 1-2, but they leaned heavily on their defense for the lone win, 13-9 over Tampa Bay.
