Sprained ankle sidelines Mavs F Howard (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Mavericks forward Josh Howard will not play in Dallas' game Saturday night against the Washington Wizards because of a sprained left ankle. Howard, the team's third-leading scorer averaging 18 points, did not play the second half of Dallas' game Thursday night at New Orleans. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Howard will visit a specialist Monday to determine if this is a long-term injury.
