Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella criticized slumping Mike Fontenot Tuesday, but said he'd stick with him for now. Fontenot, mired in a 1-for-19 slump with three RBIs the last nine games, was hitting sixth against the Cardinals. An easy groundout to end the second made it 1 for 20. "If you want to look at at-bats that are worrisome, it's Fontenot's at-bats," Piniella said before the game.
