Tigers RHP Rincon opts for free agency (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

The Detroit Tigers say right-hander Juan Rincon has chosen free agency over an outright assignment. The team announced Rincon's decision on Monday, a week after Dontrelle Willis took his spot on the roster. Rincon had a 5.23 ERA in 10 games. He signed a minor league contract with the Tigers last winter.
