Gerald Laird and Curtis Granderson hit two-run homers and Magglio Ordonez a solo shot as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals 9-1 Saturday night. Laird had three hits, and homered in the second with Carlos Guillen aboard. Granderson hit his sixth home run in the third after Adam Everett led off the inning with a single.
