Tigers' Thames on DL with ribcage strain (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Detroit Tigers outfielder-designated hitter Marcus Thames is expected to be sidelined for more than a month because of a strained ribcage muscle. Thames was placed on the 15-day disabled list late Tuesday night. He was injured while taking a swing during batting practice before Detroit's 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.
