Royals 3B Gordon on DL with hip injury (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Royals third baseman Alex Gordon has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a cartilage tear in his right hip. The Royals said Thursday that Gordon will undergo surgery in Vail, Colo., on Friday to have the tear repaired. His return is uncertain. Gordon had just two hits in 21 at-bats over seven games this season.
