Gary Matthews Jr. is among several high-priced veterans this spring who asked to be traded by opening day if they're not going to be an everyday player. He joins Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Juan Pierre and Oakland Athletics shortstop Bobby Crosby. Pierre lost his job when the Dodgers re-signed Manny Ramirez.
