Brad Penny pitched three hitless innings in his spring training debut, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 7-6 on Monday. Earlier in the day, Red Sox ace Curt Schilling announced his retirement after missing all of last season with a shoulder injury. Penny is coming back from shoulder trouble that limited him to 19 starts with the Los Angeles Daodgers last year.
