The St. Louis Cardinals have released Adam Kennedy, leaving the second base job up for grabs with just a week to go before spring training. The Cardinals made the surprise announcement on Monday. The team requested waivers on Kennedy that will expire on Wednesday, when he'll become an unrestricted free agent.
