Blue Jays fire assistant GM Given (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

The Toronto Blue Jays confirmed Saturday that they have fired Bart Given as vice president of baseball operations and assistant general manager. No reason was given for the move. The 35-year-old Given was appointed to the job in November 2004. The team said Given's duties will be handled by front-office staffers Tony LaCava and Alex Anthopoulos.
