Rangers, P McCarthy agree to 1-year deal (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Injury-plagued pitcher Brandon McCarthy agreed to a $650,000, one-year contract with the Texas Rangers on Thursday. McCarthy, who was eligible for salary arbitration, missed the first four months of last season because of right forearm inflammation, then pitched only 22 innings in his five starts (1-1, 4.09 ERA) in August and September.
