Recruiting Dates for Junior Athletes

Recruiting Materials During Junior Year

For almost all NCAA Division I sports, recruiting materials can be given to junior prospects starting September 1st during the beginning of the student's junior year. However, the NCAA allows men's basketball and men's ice hockey players to begin receiving recruiting materials starting on June 15th before the athlete's junior year.

The following recruiting materials may be provided to a prospect at any time:
  • Camp Brochures
  • Questionnaires
  • Educational Information distributed by the NCAA
  • Non sports-related university publications available to all students at any time (i.e. Official academic, admissions and student-services publications)




Phone Calls from College Coaches During Junior Year

Telephone calls from college coaches may be accepted by high school athletes from NCAA Division I athletic programs beginning junior year for most sports. However athletes must aware of the specific dates and number of times phone calls are allowed by the NCAA during the following periods:

Men's Basketball

One phone call per month beginning June 15th before junior year through July 31st following junior year.

Women's Basketball

  • One call in April on or after the Thursday following the Women's Final Four
  • One call in May
  • One call between June 1st & June 20th
  • One call between June 21st & June 30th
  • Three calls during the month of July after junior year is over.

Football

Only one call is allowed to be made between April 15th and May 31st during a high school football player's junior year.

Men's Ice Hockey

One phone call per month beginning June 15th before junior year through July 31st following junior year.

All Other NCAA Division I Sports

One phone call per month from June 15th before junior year until July 1st following junior year. Beginning July 1st, athletes may begin accepting calls from NCAA Division I college coaches once a week.
